What PlayMetrics says it is

PlayMetrics' home page says it is "purpose-built to simplify the unique complexities of running a club, league, tournament, or governing body". [1]

That page lists these areas: Registration & Payments, Tryouts & Team Formation, Communication & Mobile App, Financials & Reporting, Event & Game Scheduling, Team Management, Coaching & Player Development, In-House Leagues & Tournaments, Fields & Court Planning, Compliance & Risk Management, Club Resources & Forms and Data-Synced Websites. Its page for leagues says leagues can "collect documents and waivers" at registration, "include discounts" in fee settings, "lock rosters when completed" and "Publicly share game schedules and standings". [2]

SportsEngine's own site now says "SportsEngine is now part of PlayMetrics". [3]

What Squadora does today

These are things a club can do in Squadora now.

  • Admins open a registration for a season, camp, clinic, tryout or league, with a fee, a spot limit, a waitlist and a closing date.
  • A registration fee can be split into 2, 3, 4 or 6 payments.
  • Clubs build waivers, codes of conduct and custom forms, with short answer, checkbox, typed signature and choice fields.
  • Parents answer going, not going or maybe, with a note.
  • Coaches drag players onto a pitch in formations from 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 down to 2-3-1 for seven-a-side, then publish when the lineup is ready.
  • Staff start a match, adjust the score, call full time and send the result for sign-off.
  • A club can run a league: other clubs enter teams, the host approves them, and divisions are set by age, sex and level.
  • Clubs take card payments and receive payouts through their own Stripe account.
  • A child chats only with staff or their own guardians, and every guardian is added to the chat.
  • Admins import a roster from CSV, Excel or pasted rows, map the columns, review duplicates and create the teams named, up to 500 players a file.
  • Club owners and admins export CSV files for people, registrations, forms and payments, with no medical data and no card details.

Where PlayMetrics may fit your club better

PlayMetrics' own page lists tryouts and team formation, coaching and player development, fields and court planning, and data-synced websites. A club that wants those inside the same system should look at PlayMetrics first. [1]

  • Squadora does not score tryouts or evaluate players. A tryout is an event and a registration type.
  • Squadora has no drill library or coaching curriculum. A practice plan is a text note on an event.
  • Squadora has no club website builder.
  • Squadora has no livestreaming, sponsor management, uniform store, referee assignment, background checks or field booking with conflict checks.

How to choose

Write down the jobs your club does every season: sign-ups, waivers, fees, schedules, match day. Check each one against both products' own pages, then ask each company to show you your own registration and your own fee schedule. To see Squadora, write to support@squadora.com.
